What the extension does with your data

GambleGuard is designed to work without collecting anything. Specifically:

  • Site checks run locally. When you open a page, GambleGuard compares its address with a block list stored inside the extension.
  • Page scans run locally. For sites not on the list, GambleGuard reads the page title, description, and visible text once, inside your browser, to look for gambling language. That text is never stored or sent anywhere.
  • Your settings stay in Chrome. Your custom block list, block log (up to the last 100 blocked addresses with times), and stats are kept in Chrome’s local extension storage on your computer.
  • No network requests. The extension does not contact our servers or any third party. It works offline.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your browsing history, the sites you visit or block, your name, email address, IP address, device identifiers, location, or usage analytics from the extension. We do not have accounts, so there is no profile of you anywhere.

The website

This website (gambleguard.info) is separate from the extension.

  • Analytics. We use Microanalytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count page views. It does not use advertising cookies or build profiles of individuals.
  • Forms. If you use our report or contact forms, your message is delivered to us by email through EmailJS. We use your name and email only to reply, and we delete messages once they are resolved.
  • Fonts and files. Fonts and images are served from our own site, not from third-party font services.

Updates

The extension updates automatically through the Chrome Web Store, for example to add gambling sites to the block list or fix bugs. Updates never add data collection without changing this policy first.

Your control

  • Export your block log from GambleGuard’s Settings at any time.
  • Reset your stats from Settings, or remove the extension to delete all its data.
  • Ask us to delete any support messages you have sent, using our contact form.

Children

GambleGuard is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Parents may install it on a family computer to block gambling sites.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Because we do not collect contact details, we cannot notify you directly.
